Grand Marshals Named for LI Pride Parade in Huntington

Three grand marshals have been named to lead the Long Island Pride parade in Huntington on June 9.

Assembly Deputy Speaker Phil Ramos, Detective Sgt. Tamika Mays and the Long Island Gay Men’s Chorus will share the honors.

“Long Island Pride is a special event that brings our community together to celebrate but it’s also a reminder of the progress we’ve made and the battles still to be fought,” Ramos said.

Mays is the first black female detective sergeant in Suffolk County Police history.

The Long Island Gay Men’s Chorus will perform Sunday after the parade at St. John’s Episcopal Church on West Main Street in Huntington, part three of a series that weekend.

The group will also sing the at Long Island Pridefest in Northport on June15.
