Greenlawn Turns Out for First Day of Firemen’s Fair

Residents packed the Greenlawn Firemen’s Fair Thursday following a parade up Broadway that featured pipe bands, an array of emergency vehicles, a state assemblyman on a motorcycle,  veterans and other organizations.

The fair, which continues Friday, Saturday and Monday, served as the endpoint of the parade, with marchers greeted with an honor guard of firefighters displaying flags and the playing of the National Anthem.
As the fair opened, residents quickly lined up to play games, enjoy a variety of foods and try rides.
County Legislator Stephanie Bontempi, Town Supervisor Ed Smyth, Town Councilman David Bennardo and Patrick M. Beckley, commissioner of Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services, along with State Assemblyman Steve Stern who rode on the back of a veteran’s motorcycle, joined the parade.
