Huntington/Port Jeff Branch Busiest for LIRR

The Huntington/Port Jefferson branch recorded the most trips in the Long Island Rail Road system this year, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said this week.

The branch had 10.8 million trips, according to the report.

The report also said that the LIRR station with the most monthly tickets sold was Hicksville with 23,000 sales, while the branch  with the most monthly tickets sold: Babylon with 120,000.

The report covers the New York City Transit, LIRR, and Metro-North Railroad, naming a variety of categories including Stations with the busiest bathrooms: 74 St-Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave  and 14 St-Union Square; Bus that traveled the most miles: The B6 at 1.7 million revenue miles, and subway station with the most MetroCard swipes: Flushing-Main St with 6.3 million swipes.

The report covered Jan.1 through the end of November.
