Huntington Senior Center Celebrates Its 50th Year

Huntington celebrated the 50th anniversary of its senior center Thursday, with a champagne toast, music, lunch, dancing–lots of dancing–and a cake.

From its early days as a source of nutritious meals and programs, the center has grown into a home for clubs, meals, education and support services.  The center said it prepares about 250 meals a day for seniors.

One man dressed in a tuxedo for the celebration. Others took to the dance floor, enjoyed lumch or chatted with friends.

Among the dignitaries participating in the celebration were Town Supervisor Ed Smyth, Councilwoman Brooke Lupinacci, Tax Receiver Jillian Guthman, Town Clerk Andrew Raia and Kevin Thorbourne, director of human services.
