John’s Crazy Socks Creates Down Syndrome Day Socks

John’s Crazy Socks has been selected to create the official World Down Syndrome Day Socks in conjunction with the National Down Syndrome Society and Down Syndrome International.

In 2011, the United Nations General Assembly established March 21 as World Down Syndrome Day.  March 21 was chosen as the day to highlight global awareness of the condition because people with Down Syndrome have an extra, 21st chromosome.

John’s Crazy Socks, which operated in Huntington before moving to Farmingdale,  had a contest with the Down syndrome community to design the socks; the winning design came from Emma Wanek of Egg Harbor, N.J..

John’s Socks will donate the profits from these socks to the National Down Syndrome Society and Down Syndrome International.
