Melville Center Amendments Include Caps

updated: The Town Board will take up two amended resolutions Wednesday involving the proposed Melville Town Center that will spell out limits on the number of possible housing units.

The resolutions that were passed March 12 by the board scheduled three public hearings on the center proposal. Among other things, the amendments add language to set the maximum number of housing units at 3,000.

The Melville Town Center is a proposal for mixed-use development in parts of Melville that includes turning underused commercial buildings in the Melville corridor into a mixed-use area with a walkable downtown.

updated: One of the resolutions said that the scheduling of a public hearing to consider amending the code of the Town of Huntington  is not an action requiring review under the State Environmental Quality Review Act.

The Town Board will meet at 5 p.m. for a vote on the amended resolutions. No public comment is planned.
