New York State will spend another $25 million to continue its Nourish NY program, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Sunday.
The program purchases goods from state farmers and producers, protects the agricultural economy and helps ensure that New York residents continue to access local nutritious foods during the Covid-19 epidemic. As of Dec 1, Nourish NY had spent $26.4 million to purchase 17 million pounds of food, benefiting more than one million households.
“During this painful year, far too many New York families are experiencing food instability and hunger at a time when social services and community providers are stretched thin, ” Cuomo said.
