Party Leaders Warn of Voter Intimidation Tactics

The leaders of the two major political parties in Suffolk County have joined efforts to warn against recent attempts to impersonate election board officials in an attempt to intimidate voters.

“Whether you are a Democrat, a Republican, another party or a non-affiliated voter, we stand with you to protect the integrity of our elections,” Republican chair Jesse Garcia and Democratic chair Rich Schaffer wrote.

There have been reports recently of people impersonating election officials who attempt to confront people at their homes about their voter registration status and voting history.

Both state and county officials are warning residents not to provide information and to notify police and other authorities.
