A pedestrian was killed Monday night when he was struck by a car in Commack, Suffolk County police said Tuesday.
A woman driving a 2020 Volkswagen Atlas east on Scholar Lane near the intersection with Shaker Ridge Lane struck Matthew Conte, 36, of Commack, about 6:10 p.m.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Krista Mooney, 31, also of Commack, was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown for evaluation.
Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the crash. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
