Northport will host Pride in the Park on June 17, a celebration of LGBTQ+ life, rights and history.
The festival will run from 1-4 p.m. in Village Park.
Organizers, including Joe Schramm, director of the Office of Film & Television at Town of Huntington, say they want to embrace the LGBTQ+ community, tell them about services available to them, foster understanding with others, counter prejudice and misundersanding, and inspire by standing up for LGBTQ+ rights.
On June 1, Village Mayor, Donna Koch will launch events with a Pride flag-raising ceremony at Village Hall.
Businesses are asked to place signs in their windows to show support for the community.
