Project Prom Readies Teens for Big Moment

Huntingon teens wanting to look their best for their high school proms and others turned out for Project Prom Thursday.

Town employees, and officers from the Suffolk County Police Department Second Precinct and other organizations have been collecting clothes, jewelry, shoes and accessories for weeks to redistribute to the students. This year, mothers of the bride, wedding guests and anyone attending a formal event was also invited to browse the item set out in the gym of the John Flanagan senior center.

Town Supervisor Ed Smyth, Councilwoman Theresa Mari and other officals and volunteers worked with youngsters in putting together ensembles, choosing the right tie or making sure everything fit.
