Rain, Gusty Winds Expected for Long Island

Gusty winds, heavy rain and flooding along the shoreline are possible Sunday through Tuesday, the National Weather Service said Saturday night.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 9am and 3pm Sunday. Some  storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a high near 87. South wind 7 to 14 mph.

Thunderstorms and increasing winds are expected through Tuesday.

The bad weather is a product of the storm Isaias, which weakened from a hurricane to a tropical storm Saturday as it slowly moved toward the east coast of Florida.

The rainy weather is expected to stretch into northern New England by Wednesday, with the National Hurricane Center saying that Southeast New York and much of New England could expect 2 to 4 inches of rain, though up to six inches was possible in spots.
