Real Estate: Selling Your Home During a Pandemic

the public. Our agents are committed to providing real estate services and showing
properties in accordance with NYS and CDC health and safety standards.

Examples of the protocols we employ include:

  • Showings are held in unoccupied or vacated properties
  • All individuals visiting the property are required to wear a face covering and social
    distance, and are instructed not to touch any of the surfaces or furnishings in the
  • Agents clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces (e.g. handrails, doorknobs etc.)
    before and after every showing;
  • Showings are limited to one party at a time, decision makers only;
  •  Agents stagger showings in order to avoid the congregation of people outside and
    inside properties;
  •  All homeowners and visitors to a property are screened to confirm that:
  • They have not entered New York within the prior 14 days from any of the
    states listed on the NYS Department of Health travel advisory website as an
    “impacted jurisdiction;
  • They have not tested positive for COVID-19 and have not experienced
    symptoms of COVID-19in the past 14 days;
  • They have not had close contact in the past 14 days with anyone who has
    tested positive for COVID-19 or who is suspected to have COVID-19;
  • They will disclose to the agent if they become symptomatic and/or they test
    positive for COVID-19 within 48 hours of the last visit to their property.

Many sellers will also have additional requirements to limit foot traffic through
their homes to serious buyers, including requiring a pre-approval from all purchasers
prior to an in-person showing.
