Town Councilman Edmund J. Smyth said Thursday he wants resolutions available to the public 10 days before the scheduled Town Board meetings when they would be discussed.
Smyth said the current policy makes the resolutions public on Friday afternoon, three days before the Town Board meetings, which are normally held on Tuesdays.
“This is not adequate for the public and the members of the Town Council to thoroughly review each resolution,” Smyth said. “I encourage residents of Huntington who want greater transparency in Town Hall to contact their representatives.”
Smyth said Councilman Eugene Cook will second his proposal but that he doesn’t have a third vote proposal doesn’t have have a third vote by the town council. He plans to sponsor the change.
“I encourage residents of Huntington who want greater transparency in Town Hall to contact their representatives,” Smyth said.
Other members of the Town Board were not immediately available for comment.
