Suffolk County Police responded after someone left a rice or pressure cooker that was left on the sidewalk in front of 326 Main Street in Huntington.
The device was reported at about 8:15 p.m.
Emergency Service officers responded and determined it was not dangerous and there was no criminality.
The surrounding area was briefly evacuated, police said.
