Seniors Get a Workout for Balance, Health

Dozens of seniors got a workout Friday, part of a program to improve balance and prevent falls.

The program at the Huntington senior center, with exercises led by physical therapist Ken Shah from Excel Rehabilitation and Nursing in Woodbury, has seniors doing a variety of exercises, from either a standing position or seated in chairs. The popular program is designed to build strength and endurance. It ncludes a variety of exercises for seniors of all fitness levels.

Julia Frangione, director of the senior division of the town’s Department of Human Services, called the well attended class “high energy, fun and a great way to have a routine which is part of a healthy lifestyle.”
