Smyth, Gaughran Go Online to Discuss Children’s Issues

An online meet the candidates night brought together State Sen. Jim Gaughran and his challenger, Town Councilman Ed Smyth.

The two candidates focused on issues that affect children, including clean water, racism, equity and access to education, gun control and other matters. Each candidate took questions read by Lisa Scott, president of the League of Women Voters, Suffolk County.

The forum was sponsored by the League of Women Voters Huntington, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, NYS Chapter 2.

Gaughran and Smyth are competing in the 5th State Senate district, which includes the northern portions of the Towns of Huntington and Oyster Bay and the City of Glen Cove.
