South Huntington Library Gets Infrastructure Funding

The South Huntington Public Library will receive state funds for infrastructure projects, according to the office of Assemblyman Steve Stern.

The  funds, totaling $210,000, will allow for replacement of two air handler units and a building management system, which is used to monitor critical systems, including HVAC, ventilation, lighting and elevators.

“On behalf of our Board of Trustees, administration, staff and community members of the South Huntington Public Library,  I would like to express our appreciation to Assemblyman Steve Stern for his work on behalf of our library to secure a $210,000.00 grant which will allow us to install two new air conditioning units, including air handlers, rooftop condensers and an updated Building Management System (BMS),” Janet Scherer, director, SHPL, said.

“This will increase patron safety due to better filtration and contribute to lower electricity costs. We thank Assemblyman Stern for his unwavering support of libraries and his recognition of the important role that public libraries play in local communities.”
