Suffolk Man Accused of Rape, Robbery

A Suffolk County man has been indicted on charges of rape and other crimes in an assault of a woman at the Woodbury Days Inn hotel, the Nassau County district attorney’s office said Thursday.

Isaih Giles, 26, who has multiple addresses in Suffolk County,  was arraigned Thursday on charges of  Rape in the First Degree (a B violent felony); Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree (a B violent felony); Burglary in the First Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony (a B violent felony); Burglary in the First Degree (a B violent felony); Robbery in the Second Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony (a C violent felony); Robbery in the Second Degree (a C violent felony); and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (a D violent felony). He is scheduled to return to court on April 13, and was remanded. He faces up to 90 years in prison.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced the indictment for the attack, which occurred in April 2021. In addition to the assault, cash and jewelry was stolen.

“I urge anyone who believes they may have been the victim of Isaih Giles to contact the Nassau County Police Department’s Special Victims Squad at (516) 573-4022 and report the encounter,” Donnelly said.

According to the indictment, the defendant allegedly placed his foot in the doorway of the victim’s room to prevent the door from closing. Giles then allegedly entered the room and demanded money and jewelry. When the victim refused, the defendant allegedly strangled her, forced her to commit sexual acts and raped her. The defendant also allegedly took jewelry and money from the victim.

Giles was arrested in the Bronx by detectives of NCPD’s Special Victims Squad on Feb. 17.
