Residents between the ages of 14 and 20 who are interested in law enforcement careers are invited to explore a police program on Thursday.
The Second Precinct of the Suffolk County Police Department is hosting an open house, starting at 6 p.m.
Police officers will discuss the police explorers program, which, in addition is designed for those interested in law enforcement careers, must have at least a C average in school, and have no criminal convictions or history.
It is a “learning for life” program, which which provides participants with police training and community service experience. Members of the police explorers program can often be seen at community events, such as parades.
