The Town of Huntington has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the current budget year from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
“This is the seventh consecutive year that the Town of Huntington has received this prestigious award,” said Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci. “Thanks to the quality team we have in the Department of Audit and Control, we are committed to continuing this record for the years ahead.”
The award was given on May 7.
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and it represents a significant achievement for the Town of Huntington and its Department of Audit and Control in meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
Receiving the award required meeting nationally-recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
These are over 1,600 participants in the Budget Awards Program.
