Unity Day Parade, Fair Celebrate Huntington

The  Unity Day parade and fair that was postponed by rain last fall went off Saturday, a salute to the people of Huntington and honors for  two law-enforcement officials.

Gray skies and a chill wind had many shivering, especially at the start of the parade, which went this year from Jefferson Primary School to Stimson Middle School.

Serving as grand marshalls were Suffolk County Sheriff Dr. Errol Toulon Jr. and retired deputy police commissioner Riscoe Mention Lewis.

The parade and fair drew kids and adults to the Stimson grounds where the fair featuring games, food and vendor products was set up, along with several dignitaries, including the Town Board, Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney, Second Precinct Inspector Kevin Williams and others.

Unity Day was created to highlight the diversity and strengths of the people of Huntington.
