UPDATE: Cow Harbor Day and More Fill Weekend Schedule

A full agenda of events is scheduled for the weekend, though rain could force more cancellations.

Organizers are keeping an eye on the weather, which is expected to be rainy. 

The biggest event is Cow Harbor Day Weekend, where 5,000 runners are expected to compete in the Saturday morning race.  The 5,000 runners signed up for the Great Cow Harbor 10K Race will go off  at 8:30 a.m. The race will be followed Saturday by a display of decorated boats in Northport Harbor and a concert in the evening. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the best decorated boats. On Sunday,  the parade starts at noon at  Brosnan School, while Newton Rides and midway be operating, and vendors set up downtown will open.   Music will be available at the Village Park, and in front of Engeman Theater.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, the Town of Huntington will rename Caravan Park in East Northport for Army Spec. Edward A. Fryer Jr., who was killed in Vietnam in 1968.

Draw Out, a community arts festival, is scheduled Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. at Heckscher Park. Several activities  for all ages, including watercolor painting, collage, and more, are planned. Live music on the terrace throughout the day. Docents will be in the galleries to bring the artwork to life. If the weather is bad, the event will be canceled.

F&W Schmitts Family Farm is hosting a fall festival on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, with a maze, farmstand, pumpkin picking, roasted corn, hayrides, roasted corn, petting zoo, and pony rides. From 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

On Sunday, the Whaling Museum is sponsoring a tour St. John’s Cemetery to discover the burial customs of the Victorian era, such as the practice of post-mortem photography. Suitable for ages 12+. Begins at 1 p.m. Register.
