Zoning Board to Hear Special-Use Parking Permit Request

Industry, an eclectic space in downtown Huntington that opened in 2018  as a place for artwork, flea market, food and more, is seeking a permit to use municipal parking.

A public hearing on the request is scheduled for  the Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals Thursday night.

In its request, Industy notes that it has undergone changes from its prior use classification, which had a lower town parking requirement.

The business added beer and wine sales in 2019 and, snce the closings caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, has shifted its model to a bar/tavern operation. The business is askng to be exempt from a parking requirement that it provide one parking space for every 15 square feet of floor space of a bar/tavern.

The Industry request is one of several public hearings at the ZBA meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
