Zoning Board: ‘Welcome to Huntington, Wells Fargo’

Representatives of a plan to replace a decrepit diner site with a bank got the go-ahead last week, with Zoning Board of Apppeals chairman Gerard Asher saying, “Welcome to Huntington, Wells Fargo.”

The bank needed approval of variances, including the number of signs and setback on the .39-acre lot at the intersection of Walt Whitman Road, Old Walt Whitman Road and Norwich Street in Huntington Station, which the board unanimously approved.

The Wells Fargo bank branch will replace the Oceancrest Diner, which has sat empty for years on the triangular lot.

The diner will be torn down and replaced by a 17,000-square foot bank building. It will not have a drive-through window.
