350 Compete at Altebrando Festival

The fifth annual Vin Altebrando Outdoor Wrestling Festival brought hundreds of competitors Saturday to Walt Whitman High School.

While most of the wrestlers were high schoolers, representing club teams, middle schoolers also participated. The district said that 350 wrestlers  registered for the day-long competition.

The festival honors the memory of the late Walt Whitman varsity wrestling coach who died in 2018.

Saturday’s competition benefited Maggie’s Mission, an organization that supports families with children diagnosed with pediatric cancers.
