Appointments on Town Board Agenda

The newly constituted Huntington Town Board convenes Wednesday for its first meeting of the new year, with several appointments on the agenda.

Theresa Mari and Brooke Lupinacci, who were elected in November, will join fellow council members Dr. Dave Bennardo and Sal Ferro, and Supervisor Ed Smyth at the 2 p.m. meeting.

On the agenda is the appointment of a new comptroller, replacing Pete Leodis, who had worked in the comptroller’s office for 23 years, but has taken a job in the Town of Smithtown. He became acting comptroller when Peggy Karayianakis left after 10 years on the job.

Also scheduled is the appointment of a deputy director of the Department of Transportation and Traffic Safety.

The board will also take up the reappointments of the chair and vice chair of both the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals, along with members of each board. The terms of Paul Mandelik (Planning) and Cheryl Grossman (Zoning) expired on Dec. 31.
