Bike Safety Campaign Contest Underway

Students are invited to participate in a bicycle safety campaign contest sponsored by the Suffolk County Legislature.

Elementary students can create posters; middle and high schoolers can produce videos.

The theme of the contest is “rules of the road” for bicyclists, including wearing a helmet, riding in a straight line, obeying traffic laws and signs, keeping both hands on handlebars, looking both ways at intersections, staying alert and watching for cars.

Contest submissions are due Monday, and can be dropped off  or emailed to  the offices of Suffolk County legislators.

A finalist will be chosen in each of the 18 legislative districts, and one winner will be chosen from the 18 finalists. Content from the winning poster will be incorporated into material used by the Suffolk County police department.
