Woman Who Killed NYPD Officer Gets 27 Years

The woman who struck and killed an NYPD officer from East Northport in 20201 was sentenced Wednesday to more than two decades in prison.

Jessica Beauvais was drunk and speeding when she went through a barricade on the Long Island Expressway in Queens and hit Officer Anastasios Tsakos, who was on the scene of another crash. She then drove away but was caught nearby.

Beauvais, a Hempstead resident, was convicted of second-degree aggravated manslaughter in October, as well as charges of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.  She was sentenced in Queens State Supreme Court to the maximum, 27 years in prison.

Tsakos was the father of two small children, and the husband of Irene Tsakos, who spoke at Beauvais’s sentencing on Wednesday.  He was posthumously promoted to detective.
