Republican Keith Brown had a significant lead over Democrat Michael Marcantonio early Wednesday morning in the race for the 12th Assembly District.
The seat has been vacant since Republican Andrew Raia became town clerk in January.
Newsday said that at least 13,119 absentee ballots uncounted as of Nov 2.
Both men are attorneys.
