Car Crashes Into Carvel Store in Elwood

A man was injured when his car crashed into the Carvel store at the Elwood Shopping Center Wednesday night about 7:30 p.m. No other injuries were reported.

Forty Dix Hills Fire Department rescue personnel and firefighters responded to the crash.

The driver was taken to Huntington Hospital by the Dix Hills rescue squad.

Firefighters removed the remaining glass from the store front and secured the scene.

The Town of Huntington Building Inspector was requested to respond to assess the structural damage.

Four engines, two ambulances and a paramedic unit, under the direction of Chief Tom Napolitano and Assistant Chiefs Alan Berkowitz and Brett Tepe, responded to the crash.
