Custodian Accused of Making Threat Against School District

A custodian in the Cold Spring Harbor school district, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with making threats against the district.

Suffolk County polce said that Jimmy Martin, a Huntington resident, had applied for a promotion last week but was turned down. He then made a threat of mass harm while speaking with co-workers on Dec. 8 and again on Dec. 11, police said.

A school administrator was informed of the threats Wednesday afternoon, and contacted police at 5:17 p.m. Following an investigation by Second Precinct Crime Section officers, Martin, 57, was arrested at his home at 10:44 p.m.

He was charged with Making a Threat of Mass Harm. He is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
