Republicans Celebrate Their Electoral Victories

Huntington Republicans Wednesday night celebrated their multiple election victories in November, including their sweep of the Town Board.

They gathered at the Harbor Club at Prime to toast the winners, including Suffolk Legislator Stephanie Bontempi, Town Clerk Andrew Raia and Council members-elect Theresa Mari and Brooke Lupinacci.

Led by Huntington chairman Tom McNally, the celebration included the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and a swearing-in of new officials, though their terms don’t legally take effect until Jan.1.

McNally noted that the new Town Board lineup will be all Republican for the first time since 1957.  He and others said they intend to hold on to that advantage and that Republicans will start working almost immediately on the next election.

Correction: Story updated to note that the Pledge of Allegiance, not the National Anthem, was recited at the party.
