Driver With ‘Angel on His Shoulder’ Crashes on Park Avenue

A car heading north on Park Avenue crashed and flipped over onto a lawn on Sunday morning at about 9:30 a.m.

A witness described an “explosion of sound” and saw a brown cloud of dust kicked up as the car hurtled on to the lawn at the intersection with Robert Drive, taking out part of a fence, a tree and bushes. “He had an angel on his shoulder,” she said.

The car also smashed into another vehicle parked on Robert Drive.

The driver, she said, had a hand injury, but no one else appeared to be hurt, another witness said.

At least 15 emergency vehicles from the Greenlawn Fire Department, Huntington Manor Fire Department and Suffolk County police were on the scene.
