Edwards Named Chair of LIPA Board of Trustees

Tracey Edwards has been appointed chair of  the Long Island Power Authority Board of Trustees, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Monday.

The longtime activist and former member of the Huntington Town Board, served as a commissioner for the New York Public Service Commission at the New York State Department of Public Service from 2019 until earlier this year.

Appointed at the same time were David “Dave” J. Manning, director of Stakeholder Relations and External Affairs for the Brookhaven National Laboratory, and Claudia P. Lovas is a managing attorney with Claudia P. Lovas & Associates at American Family Insurance.

“I’m proud to announce the latest appointments to the Long Island Power Authority Board of Trustees, a group that I’m confident will bring unique knowledge and expertise to the board,” Hochul said. “LIPA is playing a critical role in advancing a clean, reliable and affordable electric grid for Long Islanders and these appointments will help transform how we power New York for future generations. We are grateful to the departing board members for their service.”

Edwards is a senior vice president and New York Corporate Social Responsibility Officer at the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. She is a consultant at Tracey Edwards Consulting Resources, a managing director at the Transportation Safety Planning and Solutions Group, and a regional director at the Long Island NAACP.

Edwards, chair of the LIPA Board, said, “I am honored to be appointed the Chair of the LIPA Board and continue to serve New Yorkers as we transition to a renewable energy grid. I look forward to working closely with all Board Members to ensure all Long Island residents benefit from the State’s commitment to building a clean energy future.”  

Laureen Harris and Sheldon L. Cohen will continue to serve on the board.
