Schools: Elwood Honors Tracey Edwards

The Elwood School District inducted Tracey Edwards into the Elwood Wall of Fame last week, honoring her career and contributions to the community.

The induction ceremony was held during the district’s homecoming festivities in the Elwood Middle School auditorium. Established in 2018, Elwood’s Wall of Fame serves to recognize individuals for their contributions to the school community.

Edwards, who attended school in Elwood, retired as vice president after serving on the Elwood Board of Education from 1990 to 2002. She
served as a Town of Huntington councilwoman, Town of Huntington Planning Board chairperson, Long Island regional director of the NAACP New York State Conference, Habitat of Humanity of Suffolk County executive director, Melville Lions Club president and Verizon Communications president.

She announced this week that she is leaving the state Public Service Commission where she served as commissioner to join Las Vegas Sands corporation as a vice president.
