Elwood Names Interim School Superintendent

The Elwood Board of Education has named Kelly Fallon interim superintendent, succeediing Dr. Kenneth Bossert. who has moved to the Great Neck district.

Fallon retired from the Half Hollow Hills district in 2017, after serving as superintendent for six years.

Her term will run from Aug. 1-June 30 unless a permanent superintendent is hired before then.

The district worked with Western Suffolk BOCES to assist in a search for an interim superintendent.

“We were grateful to have several qualified applicants for the position and are very fortunate that Ms. Fallon will help lead our district through this transitional period,” the board said.

Fallon has worked in several other capacities, including as the interim assistant superintendent for curriculum, oinstruction and administration in both the Harborfields Central School District and the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Central School District. Most recently, she was  interim superintendent and principal of the East Quogue Union Free School District. She has also held positions of principal, assistant principal and elementary school teacher throughout her educational career.

She will be paid $280,000 for the year.

The search for a permanent appointment will continue, the board said.
