Hundreds Remain Without Power After Overnight Storm

Hundreds of residents around Huntington were without power Friday after a storm overnight took down lines.

The Huntington Highway Department said it was working on downed trees in 40 locations.

Loss of power was reported in Elwood, Lloyd Harbor, Huntington Station, Northport, South Huntington, Centerport, Greenlawn, East Northport and Commack.

PSEG-LI said it expected to restore power sometime Friday to many of the thousands who lost power around Long Island.

As of 10:30 a.m. Friday, the utility said that it had restored service to more than 6,700 customers around the Island and the Rockaways and that about 3,700 customers were still without power.

The storm began Thursday afternoon and continued into Friday morning, with rain and winds up to 44 MPH.
