Huntington Boat Parade Moves Up to Oct. 14

The boat parade in Huntington Harbor will be back this year but on a different schedule.

Normally an event that follows Thanksgiving and holiday celebrations in downtown Huntington, this year the parade will take place on Oct. 14.

It’s also being organized by the Greater Huntington Boating Council, instead of the Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society, said Andrew Shield of the boating group.

He said that boats will line up at 6:30 p.m., with the parade starting at 7 p.m. The parade will start at Huntington Lighthouse,  go around the harbor and end back at the Lighthouse.

Boats will be decorated in any theme, he said. In past years, that has meant Santas, Christmas lights and music, elves and reindeer.

Holiday Boat Parade Sets Sail on Nov. 23
