A new restaurant has arrived in Huntington Village, one offering the flavorful mix of foods from the Caribbean.
Rasta Shack Island Spices opened recently at 46 Gerard St, Huntington, with a range of Jamaican and other Caribbean favorites, from jerk chicken, sausages, rice, stewed cabbage, curries, oxtail and rice, fish, and meat pies.
Owner Miriam Fogah,a Huntington resident who previously ran a restaurant in Deer Park, said, “I like to cook. It’s all about cooking good food.”
The restaurant is open seven days a week, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. It plans to offer takeout through Doordash, and has some seating available.
It is accessible from the municipal parking lot on Gerard Street and a short walkway next to the Buenos Aires Cafe on Wall Street, replacing the closed Mobay Breeze restaurant.
