John J. Breslin Jr., Real Estate Attorney, Dies at 67

John J. Breslin Jr., a prominent attorney who was active in the Huntington community, died Wednesday. He was 67 years old

After graduating from Siena College, he received his law degree from St. John’s University, which he attended nights while working full time for his father’s appraisal company.  While  running the appraisal company, he started his own Law Firm, becoming a well known, highly respected expert in real estate and zoning. 

He was the husband of Dolores Henesy Breslin,  father of Patrick Breslin (Rose), Peter Breslin, Owen and Madeline Breslin. He was the son of the late John J Breslin and Elizabeth Breslin and brother of Timothy Breslin(Betsy), Mary E. Beach (Brian), Paul Breslin (Cher), Christine Broadhurst (Geoffrey), and Karen Ventura (Michael), and  brother in law of Eileen Cullen, Susan and Bruce Punger, Maureen Neff, Elizabeth and John Fuller, William and Louise Henesy, Christopher and Patricia Henesy, Thomas and Patricia Henesy, Mary and Mark Brosnan, Gerard and Lisa Henesy and the late John Henesy (Laurie.) He also leaves Breia, Olyvia, Jaymeson and many nieces and nephews.

He was very active in the community, serving on the board of the Huntington YMCA for many years and coaching his boys at TriVillage and St. Patrick’s basketball.  He excelled at tennis, golf and basketball. The Breslin family would like to thank all the countless friends and colleagues who have been so generous and loyal to John and his family during his battle with ALS.

A private viewing for family and friends is scheduled Monday at the M.A. Connell Funeral Home. Public visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a 10:45 a.m. mass Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Church in Huntington.
