League Schedules Two Candidate Forums

The League of Women Voters will sponsor two forums this Fall for candidates for town and county positions.

Eight candidates for town positions will be invited to a forum Oct. 18 at Walt Whitman High School, while 10 seeking county office will be asked to particpate in a forum Oct. 24 at Harborfields Library,

“We organize these debates every election year so that voters can learn what candidates think about important issues of the day,” said Liz Thalheimer, president of the Huntington League. The debates fulfill the League’s mission to empower voters and defend democracy. In keeping with its non-partisan stance, all candidates who appear on the ballot have been invited to participate in the debates. Candidates will be given equal time to respond to questions designed to show how the candidates would govern if elected.”

Both forums are scheduled from 7 to 9 PM.
