Maggie’s Mission Gala to Raise Funds for Pediatric Cancer

The sixth annual Angelversary Gala will raise funds Friday to find cures for pediatric cancers.

Scheduled for 6-10 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport, the event will include music, dancing, food, open bar, silent auction items, and raffles.

The gala is organized by family and friends of Maggie Schmidt, who, at age 16, was diagnosed with malignant rhabdoid tumors in October 2016, and died June 1, 2017.

The glow theme idea is borrowed from Maggie’s Sweet 16 party which was, at her request, a “Glow” party.

The  event will kick off with Maggie’s Bucket List Skydive Jump, with Mike Elliot, retired US Army Golden Knight. The Golden Knights are the United States Army’s official aerial parachute demonstration team. Elliot took the late George H. W. Bush on three tandem jumps. On Friday, he will jump with Maggie’d mother on a jump into the gala.
