Walt Whitman High School will host a parade and celebration Friday to send off its girls basketball team to the state finals.

They are scheduled to play Saturday against Our Lady of Lourdes in the Class AAA Semi-Final in Troy, with the finals will be held on Sunday. The Wildcats have a 21-3 record for the season.
Coach Dan Trebour, who has been coaching for 25 years, said, “I often say you’re only as good as your seniors.” . “And when your seniors are hardworking, unselfish kids, how can the team not be hardworking and unselfish? So I think that’s our success right there. There’s no ego. They believe in themselves together as a team.”
