Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are seeking the person who fatally struck a pedestrian and fled the scene in Huntington Station over the weekend.
Bernarda Fernandez was crossing Jericho Turnpike at Oakwood Road when she was struck by a Jeep Cherokee traveling west on Jericho Turnpike at 3:49 a.m. on Saturday.
Police said Tuesday that Fernandez, 49, of Huntington Station, was able to call 911 after she was hit. She was taken to Huntington Hospital, where she died.
The Jeep fled the scene northbound on Oakwood Road, police said.
The police released this video of the SUV suspected in the hit-and-run.
