Quaker Oats Recalls Some Granola Bars

Lidl on Friday issued a warning about a Quaker Oats recall for products the store had sold.

The Lidl recall includes specific Quaker branded granola items, of which Lidl has sold only: Quaker Chewy Bars Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip 8ct 6.7 oz, Quaker Chewy Bars Chocolate Chip 8ct 6.7oz, and Quaker Chewy Bars Chocolate Chip Halloween Minis 28ct 13.8 oz. Lidl and other stores are reaching out to customers identified as possibly having purchases the recalled items.

Those products purchased at Lidl can be returned to the store for refunds.

The recall by Quaker Oats itself is more extensive, involving more of its products and was issued because some items may be contaminated with salmonella, which can Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The Quaker Oats Company has communicated that they have received no confirmed reports of illness related to the products covered by this recall.Q. How is Lidl conducting this recall?
