Schools: New Arts Director; Autism Scholarship Offered

The Huntington school district has hired a retired Harborfields educator as interim director of fine and performing arts.

Thomas Gellert is on contract until June 30. The opening was created by the removal of Brian Stellato after he was sued by a former student who accused him of sexually assaulting her 14 years ago. Stellato denies the accusation.

Gellert is a Manhattan School of Music graduate with a long career as a high school band director and later  public school music administrator.
