LI Braces for Cold, More Wind

Freezing temperatures are on their way Saturday night into Sunday, along with the chance of  snow showers around the Huntington area.

Huntington was still drying out midday Saturday. Flooding was reported over the bridge at Mill Dam Pond in Centerport, and the Lloyd Harbor causeway was covered with water at high tide.

With wind factored in, the temperatures could feel between 15 and 25 degrees, and 10 to 15 degrees Sunday night.  Winds could gust as high as 38 mph.

The cold air and wind didn’t keep people away from West Neck Beach Saturday afternoon. Residents in about two dozen cars lined up near the sand to watch the sun set as the winds whipped up the waves and seagulls struggled to fly to their destinations.
