Classes at St. Anthony’s will be all remote Tuesday, while classes and all activities are closed Tuesday at all public schools– Half Hollow Hills, Elwood, South Huntington, Northport, Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Harborfields and Commack school districts. The Cold Spring Board of Education meeting scheduled for Tuesday is rescheduled to Feb. 27.
The snow could be heavy at times, the National Weather Service said. Though a high of 36 is predicted for Tuesday afternoon, wind chill values are expected to be between 20 and 25.
Gusting winds of up to 40 mph are also likely.
Driving conditions are expected to be poor Tuesday morning because of wind-driven snow.
Because temperatures are expected to remain above freezing during the typical hours of operation, the town’s warming centers will not be opened Tuesday. Any resident in need of shelter should contact the Suffolk County Department of Social Services at 631-853-8714.
Crews from the Department of Environmental Waste will begin garbage collection earlier than normal Tuesday, at 5 a.m.
