South Huntington: 3 Trustees Re-Elected; Budget, Proposition Pass

South Huntington voters approved three incumbents to new terms on the Board of Education  Tuesday night, and passed the budget of $217,524,666 for the next schoolyear.

The budget represents an increase of  4.04% in spending, with a tax levy increase of 2.40%.

Re-elected to three-year terms were Linda LaCara (795 votes), and Erin E. Meijer, and Frederick Scragg with 782 votes each.

Voters approved a proposition to authorize capital improvements at Walt Whitman High School, including the replacement of boilers. The price would be covered by the sale of real estate and costed are not expected to exceed $2.5 million. The vote was 825-200.
